DAILYNEWS KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysians are being urged to appreciate the peace and well-being enjoyed by educating themselves and their families and neighbors to understand, tolerate and serve one another.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) Presidential Council in a statement in conjunction with the 62nd National Day today also urged the people to avoid the extreme attitude of those who do so only for their political gain.
“Our country is still suffering from racial sentiment, even though it has been 62 years free from colonial threats.
"Malaysia has no choice but to return to the middle ground and abandon all the prejudices and beliefs that threaten the people's continued success in implementing a massive political change on May 9, 2018," he said.
The statement was jointly issued by PKR President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim; President of the United Indigenous People's Party of Malaysia (UNITED) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin; DAP Secretary-General Lim Guan Eng and National Trust Party (AMANAH) President Mohamad Sabu.
PH's main leadership in the statement also warned that what the country has achieved so far could be lost if the people fail to recognize themselves about the sacrifices and hardships they have been through.
“In 1963, we formed a Federation with Sabah and Sarawak and later Malaysia emerged as a multiracial and multicultural nation.
"Despite our many races, religions, languages, cultures and customs, we have never been tired of trying to build a united nation," he said.
