FIFA should suspend Nutrition - Hamidin
The match was halted as supporters began to enter the field in the 2022 World Cup qualifying match against Malaysia at Indonesia at Gelora Bung karno Stadium
DAILYNEWS KUALA LUMPUR: Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) president Datuk Hamidin Mohd Amin thinks the International Football Federation (FIFA) should suspend Bung Karno Stadium.
It follows the uproar of Indonesian supporters during Group G's qualification for the second leg of the 2022 World Cup / Asia Cup 2023 at the arena on Thursday.
Hamidin, however, explained all the decisions made to FIFA as organizers to take the best action.
He said FAM would send a report on the incident to FIFA on Tuesday for further action by the parent body.
"We have already received the evidence to be sent to FIFA and the details cannot be ascertained. Things like (Indonesia's) supporters went into (Malaysia's seat), bad singing for our team and supporters, delayed match and Barracuda's ascendancy, it's all wrong.
"In my opinion, it would be best for FIFA to suspend the Bung Karno Fun Stadium. But FIFA will certainly conduct a detailed and fair investigation.
"We also understand PSSI (Indonesia's Football Association) and the security forces have worked hard to make sure that such a thing does not happen.
"We also have to remember that this incident has always happened with Malaysia, with other countries rarely. So there may be sentiments that I cannot explain," he said today.
In addition, Hamidin also assured that the best level of security would be provided for the second group of Group G against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the National Stadium on Tuesday.
"FAM has done its best to follow FIFA's procedure. We hope that all the supporters can take care of the situation and nothing will happen," he said.
